Our passion

At The RegenLab for Travel, we are driven by a deep desire: to heal the relationship between people and nature through tourism. We believe that tourism can be a force that regenerates territories, strengthens communities, and brings life back to the countryside. This is what inspires us:

Accompanying communities to rediscover their value, wisdom, and autonomy.

Manos unidas

Collaborate with entrepreneurs and small tourism businesses that want to align their business with territorial care and collective well-being.

See how regeneration restores not only ecosystems, but also connections, stories, and possible futures.

And we work to make it happen, step by step, place by place.

WE BELIEVE IN A TOURISM THAT CREATES ROOTS, NOT FOOTPRINTS

Our Story

I am Sonia Teruel, a researcher and practitioner of regenerative tourism. I have been involved in the tourism sector for more than 20 years, working alongside rural and indigenous communities and supporting destinations and entrepreneurs to create meaningful and coherent proposals.

In 2018, I wrote the world's first master's thesis on the regenerative tourism paradigm. Since then, my mission has been clear: to pave the way for tourism to cease being extractive and become an act of care and belonging.

Today, through The RegenLab for Travel, I combine research, training, and support so that more projects can contribute to the life, well-being, and regeneration of territories.

This experience inspires us to support you and your project in taking the same leap toward regeneration.

Your journey to regeneration

There's no single starting point. Regeneration is a journey you can begin wherever you are. That's why we've designed stages of the journey so you can find the level of support you need: from seeds of inspiration to an immersive program of profound transformation.

The stages of the journey:

  • Bootcamp - 5 days, intensive

Seeds of Regeneration in Tourism: the Bootcamp that will give you the seeds to start or transform your tourism project toward a regenerative model with meaning and coherence (only available in Spanish at the moment).

  • Group Coaching

Immersion in Regenerative Tourism: in-depth support to transform your tourism project into a coherent proposal rooted in your territory, gain clarity about your role, and co-design experiences that contribute to regenerating ecosystems, cultures, and communities.

  • 1:1 Coaching

You'll work directly with a regeneration specialist in a focused, personal setting, where you'll receive practical support and expert guidance to advance your regenerative journey with clarity and confidence.

  • Consulting and Facilitation in the territory

If you're looking for tourism to be a tool at the service of your community and your locality, we work with you to integrate strategies that boost the local economy, revitalize natural systems, and strengthen cultural pride.

Following the success of the Tourism Colab Communiversity, The RegenLab for Travel and The Tourism CoLab are partnering to co-create a Spanish-language community of practice: a living space for learning and collaboration to give voice, strength, and action to regenerative tourism in the Spanish-speaking world.

Imagine a space of shared independent care and learning, where diverse people come together to cultivate wisdom, practices, and relationships that help us navigate together the emerging challenges of tourism in times of change.

What we see in the world

We are experiencing a profound social and ecological crisis. Many rural communities face:

  • Depopulation and cultural loss.

  • Lack of opportunities for youth.

  • Tourism that sometimes erodes more than it nourishes.

But it's not just communities that suffer challenges. Many purpose-driven tourism businesses and ventures want to contribute to the well-being of the region, but feel trapped between:

  • Complex discourses and abstract theories.

  • An excess of confusing information.

  • Doubts about how to apply regeneration in a practical and viable way.

  • The result:

  • They don't know where to start.

  • They don't fully understand why regeneration is a different paradigm.

  • They are worried about losing profitability if they align themselves with a regenerative model.

  • They lack clarity and tools to move from idea to action or understand what generates a real impact.

  • Fear of being accused of greenwashing.

  • Stress and burnout from trying to "do it all."

At The RegenLab for Travel, we turn that potential into reality.

At The RegenLab for Travel, we weave together the wisdom of place, the strength of community, and the vitality of regenerative practice to create territories and businesses that flourish, inspire, and pave the way for new ways of inhabiting and caring for the world.

Who is this for (and who is it not for)?

Our training and support are for entrepreneurs and courageous leaders who have taken the lead in generating change. Who know the time to start is now. Who are not afraid to delve deeper and question themselves. Who want their project or venture to not only reduce impacts, but also actively revitalize their territory. They aspire to a path that gives them not only purpose and pride, but also viability, resilience, and coherence at every step.

And who are these people?

🌱 Tourism entrepreneurs and SMEs who have already taken steps toward sustainability and wish to scale regeneration in a responsible and authentic way.

🌱 Communities, destinations, and organizations that want to bring life, culture, and resilience back to their territories, with people at the center.

🌱 Committed change agents who value collaboration, experimentation, and collective learning.

❌ Who is this not for?

➡️ For those looking for quick fixes or pre-designed formulas without co-creation.

➡️ For those who understand regeneration as a marketing or innovation hallmark, not a deep commitment.

➡️ For those who aren't ready to question or challenge themselves. We'll work on topics that will push you out of your comfort zone!

Stories that inspire

Every territory and every person has their own essence, challenges, and dreams. At The RegenLab for Travel, we believe that purposeful tourism and experiences can become catalysts for life, pride, and collaboration, if they are created locally, with people, and for people.

These stories show how, working alongside communities, entrepreneurs, and local projects, it is possible to move from regenerative intentions to concrete action, creating lasting results that multiply their impact.

  • AvilAgro – Ávila, Castille and León, Spain

AvilAgro, an association of agri-food producers, sought to diversify the rural economy and strengthen its connection to the region through tourism. To achieve this, we supported a co-creation process that brought together producers, artisans, entrepreneurs, cultural groups, and tourism agents. Together, we explored the region's potential and opportunities for collaboration, designing regenerative tourism proposals that integrate local production, culture, and landscape.

The result: a living plan that promotes rural identity and opens new avenues for development.

  • MASAV – Sierras de Ávila y Valle Amblés, Castille and León, Spain

MASAV is an archaeology project that seeks to go beyond research and conservation, becoming a living engine for the territory. The challenge was to engage the local community to ensure its viability and activate the local economy and identity.

Through in-person and online workshops, we facilitated the exploration of the project's purpose, stakeholder mapping, and local capacity building. With the participants, we co-created regenerative tourism experiences that connect heritage, nature, culture, and community.

The result: a more grounded, collaborative, and territorially aligned project, with an inspired and connected population, driving initiatives to recover the essence of the place and generate biocultural experiences that celebrate it.

  • Cazorla – Jaén, Andalusía, Spain

In a region of great natural and tourist value, the challenge was to transition from an extractive model to regenerative tourism that would benefit the community and the environment. We brought together entrepreneurs and local stakeholders in collaborative sessions to identify assets, activate collective intelligence, and design actions that would align businesses, the community, and the ecosystem.

The result: the foundations for a tourism industry that strengthens the ecological, cultural, and economic vitality of Cazorla, with a leadership group prepared to catalyze change.

  • “Seeds of Regeneration” Course – Online / Multi-Territory

This intensive four-week course, aimed at entrepreneurs, community leaders, and tourism professionals, offers a practical introduction to regenerative action. Through principles, experiential dynamics, and application in real-life projects, participants discover the regenerative potential of their initiatives and develop viable proposals aligned with their purpose.

The impact: reformulated business models, strategic collaborations, and integrated regeneration at the core of the activity, strengthening communities and territories.

  • “Women, Solstice and Regeneration” Retreat – Barcelona, Spain

In the context of the summer solstice, we created a space for encounter and transformation for women interested in integrating regeneration into their lives and projects. Through dynamics in nature, dialogue circles, and reconnection practices, we explored the relationship between the personal, the communal, and the planetary.

The retreat allowed participants to cultivate clarity, strength, and purpose, while awakening new ways of aligning their actions with the care of the land and the regeneration of life. It was an intimate and profound experience that left living connections and real commitments to continue sowing change.

Why are our consulting, facilitation, and training programs so powerful?

Because they combine a wide range of training and experience, from leadership methodologies and nature-based design to conscious economics, experience creation, and the design of regenerative projects rooted in the land.
